Agents of the Civil Guard Roca have arrested two 23 and 25 -year -old young people accused of stealing 85 Iberian Hams of a dryer of the town of Montánchez, valued at 24,000 euros

This is the result of the ‘Jambón Operation’ that the Civil Guard launched after in the early hours of November 22 of last year, strangers forced the access door of a hams dryer, located in the town of Montánchez and stole 85 Iberian hams, valued at 24,000 euros.

Its owner, a neighbor of the town, noticing his absence, filed a complaint before the Civil Guard position, after which the members of the Roca team initiated an investigation with which to clarify the crime and find the whereabouts of those responsible for the robbery, according to the Civil Guard in a press release.

The investigation lasted for several months, in which the agents were collecting multiple evidence that led them to the alleged authors, two men of 23 and 25 years, residents in the provinces of Toledo and Madrid, respectively.

In addition, they found out that these people used two vehicles to commit the crime, and that one of these had been stolen the previous day in Miajadas, and was subsequently abandoned in the Madrid town of Arganda del Rey.

This vehicle appeared without the rear seats and with remains of hams fat, which indicated that those responsible for the subtraction of the 85 Iberian pieces had used it to commit the crime and transport the hams.

The investigation work carried out by the agents resulted in the arrest of both men, on June 6 in the provinces of Toledo and Madrid, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with force in the dryer of Montánchez. Both detainees have a criminal record for the alleged commission of crimes against heritage.
