
An earthquake of 6.5 shakes the center of Colombia

An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 shook Colombia in the morning of this Sunday without so far there is information from victims or material damage, the Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported.
The tremor occurred at 08:08 local time (13:08 GMT), and had as an epicenter an area between the departments of Cundinamarca and Meta, in the center of the country, said the SGC.
At first, the agency reported that the earthquake had been 6.4, but in a second bulletin he said it was 6.5 and his epicenter was in the town of Pararatebueno (Cundinamarca), 211 kilometers southwest of Bogotá, with “surface depth (less than 30 km)”.
The tremor felt strongly in much of Colombia, mainly in the departments of the center of the country, where the constructions shook for seconds that seemed an eternity.
The earthquake aroused millions of Colombians who came out in pajamas and even barefoot to the streets amid the noise of sirens that warned of the emergency.
So far there are no information or damage and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) reported that “sweeping with municipal and departmental councils” to know the consequences of the tremor.
The geological service also indicated that twelve minutes after the tremor, at 08:20 local time (13:20 GMT) a replica of magnitude 4.0 occurred, also at a surface depth less than 30 kilometers.
