A two -year -old boy, unattended by the SNS

I address this medium as a grandmother worried about the health situation we are living with my grandson, just two years old. For two months he suffers strong pains in his mouth, bleeding of gums and persistent sores that prevent him from eating and resting normally.

My daughter, her mother, has insistently attended both the pediatrician and the emergency service of the Navarro Health – Osasunbidea service, practically daily. The only response you have received have been soototil or ibuprofen. He was even admitted for four days, without at any time having a basic analytical to rule out, for example, a platelet drop or a possible celiachy, nor a plaque to check if the eruption of the teeth could be affecting some nerve.

The most alarming thing is that, given the insistence of the family, the only responses by the health personnel have been: to go to a private dentist – quote that we have already requested, although it should not be the only way for a two -year -old child – or, what is even more disconcerting, propose their hospital admission with physical support to prevent the child from taking his hands to his mouth. All this, I insist, without having practiced any diagnostic test that justifies or discards the origin of the problem.

As a citizen, as a mother and as a grandmother, I cannot understand or accept that lack of budget is alleged to perform minimally necessary evidence to a minor who visibly suffers. To what extent have we arrived, if it is not considered a priority to perform an analytical or a simple plaque to a child who has been with chronic pain for two months?

I write this letter with the hope that someone, from the competent institutions or from the public opinion itself, can intercede. We only ask that this case be valued as what it is: urgent and priority. That acts with humanity, common sense and professional responsibility.
